Something free can still cost you something

I would go to free events to display my work. It was a great opportunity but wasn’t very fruitful. It seems like an obvious thing to do because it’s FREE, right?

But there’s a huge time cost:
– day to prep and pack,
– day spent traveling to, from and at the event,
– half a day to recover, unload and restock.

So the events ends up costing me more than I made.

Just because something’s free it can still cost you something!

Gifts hidden from yourself and others

We need God to stir up the gifts in us.

When I think of stirring I think a pot of soup, I’m talking about Jamaican Soup here 😉 When you get in one of these pots and start stirring you’ll see chunks of potato, carrots, meat and dumplings.

Just opening the lid it doesn’t look like much. In one conversation upon meeting you someone might think there’s not much to you. You might not think there’s much to you but my God makes Masterpieces so I am 100% sure there’s more to you than meets the eye and we need to ask God to mix you gift pot and stir up what’s on the inside and laying dormant for too long.

When your gifts are hidden it’s a travesty because they’re hidden from you and you don’t know there’s more to you and more inside if you. You’re not fulfilling your potential. The second travesty is that the gift is hidden from others and from the world! Your gift is a gift from God, through you, to the world.

When we don’t do the part and be the one we were created to be the world is lacking and there’s a void only we can fill.

You have everything inside of you to be the Perfect YOU

Spot the obvious I know but sometimes we can’t see who’s actually staring back at us in the mirror. Familiarity can breed contempt even within ourselves!

“Forgive yourself. Love yourself and see yourself through New eyes. Through the eyes of LOVE”

I’m really proud of a young lady I’m Mentoring. She’s made so incredible changes, she’s happier and less focused on the achievements of her peers and more focused on where she’s going. She’s like a different person.

“What you focus on get bigger!”

So when she focused on others their achievements got bigger and hers got smaller, insignificant and embarrassing. As she began to focus on herself, she get bigger and more significant in your own eyes. She started seeing great opportunities that were there all along but she didn’t/couldn’t/wouldn’t see them!

There’s so many places to diversify.

I’ve always wanted to do Business but didn’t do Business Studies cause it wouldn’t be interesting enough for me on it’s own so I studied Business at the London College of Fashion. Now I’ve niched into Clergy. One day I’ll be a Speaker and Author.

My Mentee Jessica started in Law and may end up in Law OR diversify into something similar.

What you choose today isn’t necessarily what you’ll be doing in 5, 10, 20 year’s. Look at me.

“Be firm in your convictions but flexible in your approach”

God has an incredible path laid out before you. He is a lamp to your feet and a light to your path. Give Him your plans, your heart, your desires and ask Him to lead you. Direct your steps. Tell Him He’s in control and you will have the life of your dreams!!

You are a perfect mixing pot of everything need to be You. So don’t try. Just BE YOU.

Ask God to help you discover who you are, because you are His incredible creation!! Wait till you get to know who you truly are. You’re gonna love (insert your full name here).

Daily Routine – My SAVERS

I highly recommend this book The Miracle Morning my Hal Elrod. It talks about daily habits that can transform your life before 8am. Here’s how I use the SAVERS.

My daily SAVERS:

  • Silence for me this is my personal time of Prayer. I pray and speak to God all day but I like to carve out special time for my God, my Father, my Friend ❤️
  • Affirmations this is so powerful. I have 5 to 10 that I say out loud everyday and they’re so powerful. For 2-3 Days I said “House of ilona is the number brand of Women’s Clergy Clothing in the world” and get a call from the number 1 Clergy Shirt Company in Europe wanting to work with me and it freaked me out, I stopped saying it for a while because my words we creating (sounds like creation). I do Affirmations now, it Affirms what I believe God is doing in my life, it’s good to hear myself say these things and we live in a voice activated kingdom, our words are powerful. I speak it and I do my because to live it out and not contradict in the day what I said in the morning.
  • Visualization I’m working on this but again, such a powerful thing. God has given us an incredible imagination = Image Nation. There’s a whole nation in our minds that waiting to be animated by us positivity or negatively it goes with our flow. So flow in the direction you want your thought and indeed your life to go. In your mind sit behind the desk or wheel or counter of your dream job or business. What does it look like, smell like, what type of people are you working with, go there. Do it for your dream Car house or project. See yourself in that third world country hugging the children and handing out what you brought them, giving clothes, visiting the sick, empowering the locals.
  • Exercise so important to commit to everyday even if strapped for time and it’s just 7mins of press ups, lunges and squats, it’s something’s which is better than nothing.
  • Read I am working on my physical book skills as as I’m the audiobook queen there’s something really powerful about having a physical book in hand and reading it, old skool I know lol.
  • Scribe for me this is journalling which had really helped me process through difficult times, improved my writing and I highly recommend it.

What daily routine will you commit to. I recommend these because they cover so much of the bases. This could take 3hrs on some days or 30mins on other days but I guarantee you, if you commit to these daily you WILL grow as a person.

December is Here. The year’s is not over yet!

About to head for the gym! Side Note: I was going to start this “Before I run to the gym…” but decided to change my language to be more intentional. People always use language like “run to the…” and “doing the school run”. It just gives me the feeling of being out of control and late so it ends up being a dash to do this and that. No, I’m about to “head to the gym” and when I finish work I go and “pick up my girls from school!”

Where was I lol… Before I head to the gym I’m planning out my December Goals in my Charlene Johnson PUSH Journal. It’s a great tool I use to evaluate where I am in the different areas of my life and it highlight areas I need to work on. Where I need to be PUSHING.

I can also see improvements I’ve made since last month.

When your INTENTIONAL it is so powerful.

One of my push areas last month was Financial. One phone call ticked that box and made a massive difference to our finances for the next 5 years! Big statement I know. Now I could have made the call anyway without writing it down as a Push Goal and ticking it off but because I did and can see the massive difference it made I’m more committed to this monthly processes.

The call I made was to our mortgage company:

  • We wanted to get onto a lower interest rate before a possible increase in November
  • We would have had to pay a fee if we tried to make this change before November 1st
  • We called on the 1st November and got the lower interest rate locked in for 5 years and it’s made a massive difference to our finances

If I hadn’t written this down as a goal I may not have pushed so hard and found out the information I did to make the call at the right time to avoid fees yet still lock in a great deal.

The year isn’t over. There’s still time to make some changes in some or all areas of your life this month that will make for a better launch pad for 2018. Here’s some ideas:

  1. Physical Health – workout 3x per week, meal prep every 3-4 Days
  2. Mental Well-being – read one book and listen to one audiobook this month, study a topic in detail, listen to some TED Talks
  3. Environment / Surroundings – Organiser paperwork, paint a room, have a clear out of a certain area (clothes, shoes, cleaning products, tinned foods etc)
  4. Hobbies / Joy / Restoration – take the last 2 week’s off to spread with family and friends, Push to get 8hrs sleep, go to be early, have a PJ Day
  5. Romance – spend quality time with your other half, Plan a surprise romantic meal in or out, treat yourself to Spa Day or create your own at home with a Spa kit, candles and a good book
  6. Friends and Family – reconnect with a Spears quality time with (name the people)
  7. Finances – review and get better prices on services you’re currently paying, saving a certain amount, give a certain amount, educate yourself on a certain topic
  8. Purpose / Career – if you’re not on track read and ask questions on how you can more in the right direction, if you are on track be better find a mention and educate yourself even more
  9. Spirituality – where are you in your relationship with God? What will you commit to doing that will draw you closer to Him
  10. Personal Growth – what areas of yourself and your character need work? Is it your Boundaries with people? Ready Henry Cloud’s Book “Boundaries”

Where do you need to focus some Push energy?

Be intentional. Have an amazing December, 2017 is not over!

Time to regroup

Every few months I like to take time out to immerse myself in training.

Take some time to work ON my business and not just in it.

It’s so important to take time out. I know about vision statements, values, mission statements and SWOT Analysis but to refreshing to look at these things again, update them and reposition yourself.

Constant journey of discovery

“Your work is to discover your work…” Buddha

This statement jumped out at me.

I have lots of nieces and nephews but 2 in particular come to mind here. One is following his music dreams the other fashion and styling and they are doing extremely well.

So well in fact, that what they dream of doing, they’re doing now at just 19 & 20 years old!

My husband (their Uncle) was the same way. He accomplished all his dreams in his 20s then was wondering… “what’s next? What else is there?”

My concern for these twenty-something-goal-achievers is… what’s next? What do they reach for when the thing they wanted is in their hands.

So many others must have this day feeling;

– The business tycoon wanting to make a certain amount or build a business then sell it and they do… then what?

– The entertainer who wants to action/sing/write a certain role and they do… then what?

– The couple desperate for a child and the finally have one… then what?

– The list is endless

Then I saw this statement “your work is to discover your work…” for me, this means, you never reach because you then reach for the next thing. What in your 20s feels like an epic achievement, when you look back in your 70s it was merely a milestone.

There’s a much bigger picture, but when your focusing on (and living in) only one small section of that picture it’s a small perspective, till you step back and see the whole thing.

Where are you in your journey? Discovery, at a milestone, part way through, reflecting? Wherever you are, keep discovering your work!

More Supporters equals More Critiques

Was just journaling about the amount of online criticism my brand is getting and this line came out of me and I had to share.
Last month was our best month in business, more new customers, more new sale, more exposure to people who need and want what we have but the exposure caught the eye of criticism too.
Top tips for when your work is being criticized:

  • Journal, pray address how it making you feel and move on.
  • Focus on the positives, your happy customers, testimonials and further growth and plans.
  • Get your head down and keep working!!

The work you do when no one is watching

The work you do when no one is watching… that’s the work that counts.
The workout you do when no one is watching… that’s the workout that counts.
The writing you do when no one is watching… that’s the one that counts.
The self-talk you do when no one is watching… that’s the one that counts.
The praying you do when no one is listening… that’s the one that counts.
The reading and learning you do when no one is around… that’s the one that counts.
Don’t live your life in show. Live on purpose! Everyday. All day.
