“Your work is to discover your work…” Buddha
This statement jumped out at me.
I have lots of nieces and nephews but 2 in particular come to mind here. One is following his music dreams the other fashion and styling and they are doing extremely well.
So well in fact, that what they dream of doing, they’re doing now at just 19 & 20 years old!
My husband (their Uncle) was the same way. He accomplished all his dreams in his 20s then was wondering… “what’s next? What else is there?”
My concern for these twenty-something-goal-achievers is… what’s next? What do they reach for when the thing they wanted is in their hands.
So many others must have this day feeling;
– The business tycoon wanting to make a certain amount or build a business then sell it and they do… then what?
– The entertainer who wants to action/sing/write a certain role and they do… then what?
– The couple desperate for a child and the finally have one… then what?
– The list is endless
Then I saw this statement “your work is to discover your work…” for me, this means, you never reach because you then reach for the next thing. What in your 20s feels like an epic achievement, when you look back in your 70s it was merely a milestone.
There’s a much bigger picture, but when your focusing on (and living in) only one small section of that picture it’s a small perspective, till you step back and see the whole thing.
Where are you in your journey? Discovery, at a milestone, part way through, reflecting? Wherever you are, keep discovering your work!
